Type Approval (Module B) Type approval means the procedure for the evaluation and approval of the construction, material quality, and technical characteristics of all major elements of a legal measuring instrument that may affect its measurement function or capabilities.

Module D: Production Quality Assurance Covers the production phase and follows Module B. It includes the process of testing and approval by a notified body. The process is similar to the production, plant and after-sales service scope of ISO 9000 (former ISO 9002). It requires the establishment of a quality assurance system for the production process. Final product inspection and testing is carried out by the manufacturer.
